Willow-leaved Bluestar, is three times beautiful plant - first for spring flowers, second for summer foliage, and third for its fall color. The leaves are more narrow than has Amsonia tabernaemontana, and remind of willow.
Willow-leaved Bluestar performs very well in hot humid climate of Midwest and here in Indiana.
Star-shaped flower in dense terminal clusters, pale blue to steel blue, appear in late spring and somewhat resemble of tall phlox.
Forms nice, 3' tall and wide dense clumps, but in shade, plants are taller and less dense. Summer foliage is medium green and reminds of willow, and fall color is a good rich gold.
Sun, half shade, dappled shade, average soil to heavier clayish soil, average moisture. Adaptable to dry soils to moist soils. Deer, drought and clay soil tolerant plant.
