Anemone tomentosa 'Robustissima' - JAPANESE ANEMONE 'ROBUSTISSIMA'
Anemone 'Robustissima' is vigorous, vital, robust and more winter hardy cultivar.
Elegant, 3-4' tall and 2-3' wide, easy to grow and perennial. Big soft pink, saucer-shaped flowers with yellow centers from August to September. Fluffy seedheads in the fall and early winter.
The leaves are somewhat bigger than most of other cultivars, and bottom is fuzzy.
Forms slowly creeping mounds, it spreads some by rhizomes, so leave a bit more room around it. In time may form smaller colony.
Grows well in half shade, light shade or dappled shade, up to full shade, in average, but preferably organic rich soil. Adaptable. In cooler areas can grow in full sun with adequate moisture.
Medium to moist soil, can handle short term droughts, avoid waterlogged soils.
Hardiness zones 4-7, doesn't perform well in deep south.
Plants are rabbit resistant, but it was reported to be browsed by the deer - especially where deer is overpopulated! Otherwise it is very tough plant, since it's established it is also very long lived plant, that becomes stronger and more beautiful with every year.
Perfect companion to Hosta, Astilbe, Brunnera or any medium to big half shade and shade loving perennials, or shrubs like Hydrangea.
Excellent fall bloomer for perennial borders, cottage gardens, woodland gardens, woodland edges or naturalization.
Pot size : square 3.5" x 4" deep perennial pot
