One of the breakthroughs in aster breeding :

'Thunderdome' combines deep purple flowers of New England Aster and bushy mounding habit and aromatic leaves of Aromatic Aster. Both parents are very tough and superior native asters, excellent plants for Midwestern conditions.

This is large plant (4' tall x 3' wide) so leave some space for it!

Plant combination: Great in small groups or as individual plant in smaller beds (background or middle part of the bed) - public spaces, private gardens, pollinator gardens, butterfly gardens, naturalistic gardens. Can be combined with majority of common and native perennials (and their cultvars). Looks wonderflu with medium and tall grasses.
