Baptisia hybrid with soft pink flowers and darker red-pink buds.
One of several Baptisia introductions of Hans Hansen (plantsman and plant breeder at Walters Gardens). 'Pink Truffles' is patented cultivar under no. PP26588 CPBR5333, that is part of DECADENCE® series (trademark is owned by Walters Gardens, Inc.). Unlicensed propagation prohibited.
4-4.5' tall x 3-4' wide clumps, flowers in late spring/early summer.
Sun to half shade (at least 4-6 hours), flowers better in the full sun.
Easy to grow and adaptable to many soil types with average moisture to medium-dry (incl. clay, sandy or poor soils).
Avoid waterlogged soils only
Hardy in zones 4-9.
Attracts butterflies and some native bees. Deer and rabbit resistant.
Heat, humidity, drought (once established) and salt tolerant plant.
Best for sunny flower bed, modern plantings (public and private), cottage gardens, water-wise plantings, pollinator gardens, prairie-type of plantings, naturalistic landscaping. Slowly growing and slower to establish, but long-lived perennial.Goes well with majority of sun loving perennials like Amsonia, Aster, Coreopsis, Hemerocallis, Iris, Monarda, Nepeta, Paeonia, Salvia,... and ornamental grasses. Can be used as a small shrub and/combined with shrubs. A bit slower grower and slower to establish, but otherwise trouble free and long-lived perennial.
Good cut flower, dark dry seedheads prolong the ornamental effect and can be used in dry arrangement.
