More reliable, better performing Blue Grama that originates in Illinois!

Honey-blonde eyelash seedheads reminicent of 'Blonde Ambition' (this one was selected in Santa Fe, New Mexico and that's why it's usually not hardy enough or dies back or disappear in the Midwestern gardens).

Blooming Time: late summer - from July/August to August/September, but flowers persist on the plants until you cut them down in pre-spring.

usually 24" tall and 18" wide (depending on the moisture and fertility of the soil up to 30" tall x 24" wide)

3 to 9
Culture: 
full sun, mostly sun, average to drained soils. Adaptable to soil types and pH, also leaner, more shallow soils. Tolerates heavier soil, if it naturally draines well (is not compacted or waterlogged)
Moisture Needs:
medium, medium-dry, medium-moist
Origin:
hybridized by Brent Horvath, Intrinsic Perennial Garden, Hebron, IL. Patended under PP33101, propagation prohibited. The species of B. gracilis is native grass to bigger part of USA (Southern and western United States, Mexico), see the USDA distribution map.
Black Walnut Tolerant: yes
Deer/Rabbit Resistant:
yes / rabbits may feed on the foliage
Attracts Butterflies or Pollinators: Host plant for larvae of Leonard's Skipper and Ottoe's Skipper, large number of grasshoppers feed on the foliage too.
Attracts Hummingbirds:
no, but attracts small songbirds
Pot Size: 3.5" x 4" perennial pot
Plants combinations: Great for sunny gardens, urban landscaping, naturalistic, prairie or waterwise garden. Goes well with many common perennials, lets mention at least Achillea, Agastache, Asclepias tuberosa, Amsonia, Asters, shorter cultivars of Baptisia, Callirhoe, Coreopsis, Echinacea, Iris x germanica, Gaillardia, Geranium sanquineium, Paeonia, Rudbeckia, Sedum telephium, Stachys officinalis or Stachys byzantina, Solidago, and other grasses with more firm shape like Panicum, Sorghastrum or Schizachyrium.

Goes well with the majority of common perennials for sun. Looks very good with large-flowering asters (New England Asters), smaller and medium grasses (Sporobolus, Muhlenbergia, shorter Panicum) or Perovskia.
