Product Code: CAL-DIG-X
Shipping: Calculated at Checkout
$9.99

Tall and upright growing poppy mallow, with slender stems and deep magenta flower through the most of the season.

Usually 3' tall x 1-2' wide, a bit loose, airy structure with divided basal leaves. Cup-shaped and upward-facing flowers from May till beginning of September.

Long tap root makes this plant more difficult to transplant.

Full sun, average to dry, preferably drained soil (gritty, rocky, sandy, gravelly soil). Medium, medium-dry to dry. Too fertile soil leads usually to flopping.

Hardy in zones 4 to 8. Distribution is in several central states and Georgia, see the BONAP map. Naturally occurs in dry prairies, grassy slopes, open woods, always on well draining, usually rocky soils.

Native bees are the major pollinator. Deer and rabbit do nibble on this species.

Best for drier flower beds, dry prairie plantings, dry slopes, rock gardens, gravel gardens.

Pot size : square 3.5" x 5" deep pot (and 4" deep pot)
