In suitable conditions freely (moderatelly) self seeds and fills the gaps.
Heat and drought tolerant. Deer, rabbit and black walnut resistant plant.
Blooming Time: end of May to June/July, with the peak in mid June. In nutrient rich soils will continue blooming till early fall

It's more likely a shorter-lived perennial, but is a good self-seeder (the plants are longer-lived in drained and poor soils).
