Trouble free, compact plant with a very long blooming season.Yellow, star-shaped flowers with orange discs start blooming in June.

In suitable conditions freely (moderatelly) self seeds and fills the gaps.

Heat and drought tolerant. Deer, rabbit and black walnut resistant plant.

Blooming Time: end of May to June/July, with the peak in mid June. In nutrient rich soils will continue blooming till early fall

Plant combinations : Great in sunny borders, cottage gardens, prairie plantings, naturalization on slopes or meadows, preferably in drier and drained soils. It's more likely a shorter-lived perennial, but is a good self-seeder (the plants are longer-lived in drained and poor soils). Good companions are drought tolerant plants like Amsonia, Agastache, Asclepias tuberosa, Asclepias verticillata, Baptisia, Callirhoe, other Coreopsis, Dalea, Echinacea (especally with narrow leaves) , Eryngium, shorter Gaura, Gaillardia, Liatris, Monarda bradburiana, Penstemons, Phlox subulata, Verbena canadensis, prairie grasses like Schizachyrium scoparium, Sporolobus heterolepis, Stipa etc. Suitable non-native perennials can be Acanthus, Ashodelina, Campanula, Centaurea montana, Dictamnus, Eryngium, Knautia macedonica, Kniphophia, Iris x germanica, Iris tectorum, Lavandula, Stachys, Veronica spicata etc.
