This perennial is largely unknown in horticulture, but it's time for this to change! 'Little Rascal' is a true garden workhorse with only positive attributes:

    - it has a neat & tidy look, low-growing and regular mounds, and ornamental, grayish, paddle-shaped leaves
    - an unbelievably long flowering season from midsummer through early fall - the golden-yellow umbels age to shades of bronze-orange
    - great size
    - highly attractive to butterflies, honey bees, bumble bees and hummingbirds
    - deer resistant

Perfect for dry slopes, shallow soils, rock gardens, xeriscapes, roof gardens, drier flower beds, pollinator gardens, hummingbird gardens or big containers.

Combine it with Asclepias tuberosa or A. verticillata, Aster oblongifolius, Monarda bradburiana, Monarda punctata, Echinacea tennesseensis, Eryngium, Ruellia humilis, Liatris, nepeta, Penstemons, Perovskia, Salvia, Sedum telephium, Scabiosa columbaria, Stokesia leavis, etc, and grasses like Bouteloa, Muhlenbergia, Stipa tenuissima, Sporobolus, or Schizachyrium.
