Zone 6 hardy native climber, with larger trumpet-shaped, slightly fragrant yellow flowers in late spring and semi-evergreen to evergreen leaves.

Needs support of a trellise, arbor or fence. Can be used as a groundcover.

Deer resistant.

Blooming Time: late spring to early summer
Size: 8-12' tall x 1-5' wide

Culture: sun, half sun, half shade, drained, rich and slightly acidic soil is the best
Moisture Needs: medium (average) to moist
Origin: selected from seedlings of G.sempervirens by Don Jacobs of Eco Gardens in Decatur, Georgia, who named it after his wife Margarita. Gelsemium sempervirens is native to southern and southeastern USA, where it grows in bright woodland edges. See the BONAP distribution map.

This selection is lot more hardy than the species (survives winters to minus 25 F in Pennsylvania).
