Geranium 'Azure Rush' - HARDY GERANIUM 'AZURE RUSH'

Product Code: GER-X-AZURUS
Shipping: Calculated at Checkout
$9.99

SUPERB non-stop flowering perennial and a true must-have plant! This sport of the super perennial Geranium x ‘Rozane’ has a more compact mounding habit with shorter internodes than its parent plant, making it a neater, lower-growing, and ground covering plant. It also has bigger 2 1/2 in. wide, lighter blue flowers with red-purple veins. The wide, whitish eye is similar on both cultivars.

Flowers from early summer until the first frosts. If the summer heat causes the plants to cease flowering, they will rejuvenate and rebloom later in summer.

Grows best in good garden soil that is medium moist and enriched with some compost or organic material. Excellent for borders, cottage gardens, pollinator gardens, and containers. Can be planted in masses, small groups, as a ground-covering perennial or as single plants in smaller flowers beds.

Can be combined with any border perennial, annuals, grasses and well-behaved native wildflowers in full sun to partial shade, which makes it an awesome, universal plant. Stunning plant combinations can be made with bright- and sulphur-yellow flowers, plants with chartreuse tones, yellow leaves, or shades of silver, purple, red or deeper blues.

Blooming Time: from May until frost
Size: usually 1.5’ tall x 2-2.5’ wide, spacing 2’
USDA Zones: 5 to 8
Culture: full sun, half shade, grows well in average and not too dry soil, prefers moist and organic, rich soil. Established plants can tolerate shorter-term droughts. In the deep southern climate it prefers some shade, especially in the afternoon.
Moisture Needs: medium-dry, medium
Origin: Garden origin – Geranium 'Azure Rush' is a naturally-occurring sport of a hybrid of Geranium wallichianum and Geranium himalayense 'Rozanne'. It was discovered and selected by Jan Dirk Schuiver in Jeddeloh, Germany in July 2007. Patented plant - United States Plant Patent PP#22,684.
Deer/Rabbit Resistant: yes / yes
Attracts Butterflies or Pollinators: butterflies
Attracts Hummingbirds: no

I have tried growing the highly rated Rozanne for years in my humid mid-atlantic climate with no success. I'm hopeful Azure Rush is all it's purported to be. I have had great success with most geraniums except for Rozanne.

I was very impressed by the size and health of the plants I received. They were packed well and arrived quickly. All the plants I ordered were very impressive. I will order more in the future. Highly recommended.
