Geranium macrorrhizum 'Bevan's' - BIGROOT GERANIUM 'BEVAN'S' (CRANESBILL)
Ground covering perennial for half shade, with aromatic leaves, deep magenta flowers in May.
Flowers for short period of time, but it's quality is the dense groundcovering mat.
0.75'-1' tall x 1.5-2' wide clumps of divided leaves, smaller flower above foliage (less than 1" in diameter).
Slowly spreads via this rhizomes on the surface and right under the surface of the soil and is good in suppressing weeds (plant in area free of perennial weeds).
Half shade, dappled shade are the best, average soil, loamy soil, soil with organic matter or some leafy debris. Established plants are quite drought tolerant and can handle the heat and humidity quite well too.
Suitable for zones 3-7/8.
Due to "orangy-aromatic" leaves, rabbit and deer avoid it. Can be planted under black walnut.
Attracts butterflies and honey bees.
This is woodland edge plant (or light deciduous forest plant) and looks the best as a groundcover in half shade, or woodland garden. Plant in small groups (mall patches) or medium sizes areas, under canopy of bigger trees, in front of groups of shrubs.
Also called Geranium macrorrhizum 'Bevan's Variety' .
Goes well with Aster divaricatus, Geranium maculatum, Brunnera, Epimedium, Geum, Helleborus, Hosta, Polygonatum, spring ephemerals and bulbs and grasses like Carex or Hakonechloa.

These were packed so well, and VERY healthy. Planted them, and you wouldn’t ever know they came to me in a box! Thank you!
