Geum 'Totally Tangerine' - AVENS 'TOTALLY TANGERINE'
'Totally Tangerine' = the tallest! avens hybrid with yellow-peachy orange flowers, up-facing sterile flowers on 30" tall stems.
Excellent cultivar in Chicago Botanic Gardens trials, gaining 5 out of 5 possible stars.
Blooms from early May to mid June, with occasional reblooming in late summer. Flower size 1 and 1/4".
Clumps of fuzzy semi-evergreen leaves, 30" tall x 18" wide clumps. More or less ground-covering mounds. Robust, vigorous and fast growing cultivar.
Full sun, half-shade, preferably loamy soils, loamy clay, organic rich soils, that stay medium to medium-moist (but NOT waterlogged).
Avens do like cooler climate, areas with cooler nights - so they will perform better in upper Midwest or coastal areas, in hotter climate find cooler spot in half shade (afternoon/early evening shade).
We have trialed 'Totally Tangerine' in our hot and humid climate of South Central Indiana and it does well here!
Moderately tolerant to summer drought - leaves may scorch or turn brown and plant will re-sprout with more moisture.
Deer and rabbit resistant plant, butterfly and bee friendly.
Hardy in zones 4 - 7.
Hybridized by Timothy Crowther in 1999 at his nursery in West Sussex, United Kingdom, parents are Geum rivale (female parent) and Geum chiloense ‘Mrs. Bradshaw” (male parent).
Patented plant under U.S. Plant Patent PP22,041 (July 26, 2011) - propagation prohibited.
Great perennial for borders, goes well with many perennials, best planted in the front or center of the flower bed.
Good combination are with Amsonia, hardy Geraniums, Iris, Nepeta, Heuchera, Paeonia, Salvia or any other border perennials and medium sized grasses like Sporobolus, Schizachyrium or shorter cultivars of Panicum.

quality
These Geum arrived in September still looking very fresh. The soil was still moist and the plants were very well packed. I can't wait to see them in action next year.

Looks Great
It is growing after about a week. As mentioned in the description, it will probably grow better in slightly cooler weather.
