Very late bloomer, covered with 2" golden flowers from September till frost.
Dense mounds, narrow dark green foliage.
24-26" tall x 24" wide clumps. Full sun, average soil, clay, loam with average moisture (slightly moist, medium, medium-dry). Prefers somewhat drained soils (don't plant in waterlogged soils).
Established plants tolerate drought.
Hardy in zones 5-10.
Deer and rabbit resistant, attracts pollinators and butteflies, small birds feed on the seedheads (don't cut them off too early).
This cultivars comes from open-pollinated seeds from short selection of Helianthus salicifolius 'Low Down', plants is protected by the patent no. PP30117.
The species of Helianthus salicifolius is much taller plants and is native to several central states and Texas diagonally through small part of Midwest up to north-eastern states, see the BONAP distribution map.
Best in sunny garden, edges, pollinator gardens, drier parts of rain gardens, can be combined with fall garden mums. It's recommended to divide clump after 3-4 years to refresh the vigor.
