Vigorous, sturdy and upright cultivar with pure red flowers (10" in diameter).
Older, but very popular variety, one of the first widely cultivated cultivars, introduced by Robert Darby around year 1955. This hybrid, as many others, combines genes of Hibiscus moscheutos, H. grandiflorus, H. coccineus, H. dasycalyx, H. laevis and maybe others.
Usually 5'-7' tall and wide, robust shrubby looking perennial, slowly getting bigger and stronger with every year.
Adaptable to many soil types (clay, sandy, average soils), with average moisture to moist-wet soils.
Blooms continuously from July to September.
Hardy in zones 5 to 10, deer and rabbit resistant plant. Attracts butterflies and hummingbirds.
Significant accent for your garden - flower beds, rain gardens, combined with medium sized shrubs or taller grasses.
