Uncommon garden perennial, but beautiful and quite easy to grow wildflower that is native to Tennessee, Kentucky, North Carolina, West Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania.

1-1.5' tall x 0.75' wide, flower in  June- July with 2" pinkish or pinkish-white flowers.

Full sun, half shade (half shade recommended, if your soil is drying out), prefers medium, medium-dry to moist soil, somewhat drained.

This plants seems to be pretty adaptable to soil type, despite the fact that in nature it prefers a bit humusy, slightly acidic soils.

Hardy in zones 5a to 9. Native wildflower, that is often endangered and naturally occurs in clearings or along the roads on moist soil, rock cracks and places with lower competition of taller plants. Established plants are tolerant to some droughts too.

Very good pollinator and butterfly plant. Unfortunately rabbits eat it.

Grows well medium moist flower bed, rock garden, woodland edge, stream banks, pond banks with lower plants.
