Unusual mounding perennial with ornamental leathery leaves with jagged margins and good fall color. PInk-red flowers in the first half of the season.

The foliage last longer than on the parent plant (Mukdenia).

Blooming Time: spring to late spring (April to early June)
Size: leaves 8", with flowers 14" tall and 12-14" wide clumps
USDA Zones: 3 to 9
Culture: Full sun with constantly moist soil. Half sun to
half shade (4-6 hours of sun), full shade. Average soils with some organic matter (leaf compost, compost), to loamy soil. Average moisture to slightly moist, avoid places that tend to dry out very fast

Moisture Needs: medium (average) to medium-moist, soil shouldn't dry out for too long
Origin: Unique and the only hybrid of Mukdenia and Bergenia. Introduced by Terra Nova nurseries

Attracts Butterflies or Pollinators: not known
Attracts Hummingbirds: no

Plant combinations: Half sun to half shade and shade gardens, shaded parts of rockgarden, Asian style or Japanse gardens. Can be used in bigger planters in the shade. Filling plant and good companion plant to half shade and shade tolerant perennials like Asarum, Aster divaricarus, Brunnera, Epimedium, Gilenia, Helleborus, Hosta, Iris cristata, Persicaria, Omphalodes, Polemonium, Polygonatum, Pulmonaria, Spigelia, sedges - Carex, Deschampsia, Hakonechloa, ferns and many spring ephemerals. Can be planted in the full sun, if the soil doesn't dry out.
