Oenothera x hybrida 'Cold Crick' - EVENING PRIMROSE 'COLD CRICK'
A beautiful hybrid evening primrose with parentage of native Oenothera fruticosa. Clump forming perennial, fast growing, but long-lived perennial with dense narrow leaves and ground-covering habit.
The stems are reddish, leaves turn red-orange or red in the fall.
The very abundant flowerer with bright yellow flowers on in late spring to early summer - blooms for 6 or more weeks!
Reaches about 1' tall x 1.5' wide, this cultivar is sterile, doesn't produce seed, so it doesn't self seed and stays in clumps. Hardy zones 5 to 8.
Full sun or half shade, average or loamy, but drained soil, medium moist to drier soils (avoid waterlogged soils). Heat, humidity and drought tolerant perennial and deer resistant plant.
Attracts beetles, butterflies, skippers, honeybees and native bees.
The best combinations are with blue, purple blue or pink-purple flowering perennials with slender and upright stems. Nice combos include Allium schoenoprassum, Allium 'Millenium', Allium 'Summer Beauty', Boltonia 'Jim Crocket', hardy Geraniums, Liriope, taller Nepeta (e.x. N. faasenii 'Six Hills Giant'), Penstemons, Salvia nemorosa and Salvia x sylvestris hybrids, Stachys 'Hummelo' Tradescantia ohiensis, Veronica spicata or hybrids.
Also effective in combination of upright gray leaves of Yucca or bearded irises and many medium to bigger grasses.
Excellent perennial for the front of the border, cottage gardens, rock garden, low maintenance plantings, xeriscape or native plant gardens.

Cold Crick Evening Primrose
This plant was in constant bloom for over two months! It was so floriferous that often the leaves were completely invisible. I would recommend this plant unreservedly.
