Cultivar of beardtongue with dramatic glossy purple-black foliage, deep purple seed heads and lavender-violet flowers.

Dense well branched  habit, good garden size, excellent vigor.

Tough, hardy, heat and humidity tolerant, deer and rabbit resistant.

Blooming Time: early to mid summer
Size: 2' tall x 1.5' wide
USDA Zones: 3 to 8
Culture: full sun, half shade; very adaptable to soil types and pH (drained soils, clay, sandy, rocky, virtually any soil)
Moisture Needs: average (medium) to medium-dry
Origin: Hybrid of several native beardtongues (P. digitalis, P. calycosus at least). Introduced by Terra Nova Nurseries in Oregon. Patented plant under 'TNPENDB' PP30569 (since 2019). Shorter and more compact than 'Dark Towers' and 'Mystica'. Flowers are more lavender to violet rather than pink.

    Kept these plants in their pots for quite a while after receiving them, but when unpotted they had very healthy roots and I swear doubled in size immediately once in the ground--in October, even. I've had marvelous results with plants from US Perennials--thank you!

    These plants were part of a larger order that I placed from US Perennials. As a perennial gardener I find their plants healthy and a great price. Rather than driving around looking for the plants I'm interested in I have found ordering from them to be easy, breezy.
