Vegetative-propagated cultivar with bronze-tinted leaves, pink flowers and red fall color.

Intrinsic Perennial Gardens (Hebron, Illinois) introduction, parent of newer cultivars with dark leaves. Good, forgiving and adaptable perennial.

2.5-3' tall x 1-2' wide, clump forming perennial, with basal leaves and upright loose red stems with small tubular flowers.

Flowers in April/May to June.

Wild for of Penstemon digitalis is native in eastern part of USA, see the USDA distribution map, it can be found in prairies, meadows, woodland edges, open woods, so it's tolerant to some shade too.

Hardy in zones 4 to 8.

Very versatile, adaptable and tough perennial, full sun, half shade, virtually any soil - clay, sandy, rocky, but always avoid waterlogged soils!

Rabbit and deer resistant plant, also drought and clay tolerant.

Tolerates black walnuts. Flowers attract hummingbirds and native bees.

Versatile perennial that goes well with many common perennials in sunny or half shade border. Great cut flower.
