Creeping Woodland Phlox 'Sherwood Purple' is a ground covering phlox for shade and good soil. On of the top performing plants in Mt. Cuba Woodland Phlxes trial.

Sweetly fragrant lavender-purple flowers on 6'' tall stems. Forms dense mats of partially evergreen /evergreen leaves, very good groundcover. Flowering begins in early to mid spring and lasts for several weeks. Moderately fast spreader in good soil. Hardiness zones 3-9.

Grows and pairs well with Aquilegia canadensis, Asarum, Amsonia tabernaemontana, Carex, some Heucheras, Iris cristata, Polygonatum, Smilacina, Spigelia, Stylophorum lasiocarpum, Tiarella, Trillium, smaller or medium ferns and with introduced perennials like Brunnera, Epimedium, Hosta, Primula and others.

Good butterfly plant, deer resistant perennial, but might be nibbled by rabbits. Tolerates clay, drought, dry shade and black walnut.

Dependable perennial for shade gardens, woodland gardens and edges.
