Pycnanthemum tenuifolium - SLENDER MOUNTAIN MINT

Product Code: PYC-TEN-X
Shipping: Calculated at Checkout
$6.99

Very modest, hardy, tough and easy to grow superb pollinator perennial!

Slender mountain mint has the most narrow, nearly needle-shaped leaves and clusters of white flowers in July to September.

From all the mountain mints, this one has the weakest mint aroma. Strictly upright stems, usually 2-3' tall and 2' wide.

Native wildflower to all Eastern USA, that typically grows in the wild in dry, open, rocky woods, dry prairies and fields, along roadsides, along streams and in open wet thickets.

As other mountain mints, this is a pollinator magnet too - attracts many kinds of insects, native bees (including long-tongued bees, short-tongued bees), honeybees, wasps, flies, butterflies, skippers, beetles, and plant bugs. These insects usually seek nectar.

Tough perennial, drought tolerant plant, good for controlling erosion, tolerant to clay soil, dry soil or shallow and rocky soils. Also tolerant to black walnut and great cut flower too.

Easy to grow perennial for herb garden, pollinator garden, butterfly garden, border, naturalized area or meadow. Also may be grown in open areas near ponds and streams.

Best if combined with rought structure perennials like Echinacea, Rudbeckia, Silphium, Paeonia or  vertical structures like taller Liatris or grasses.

Pot Size : square 3.5" x 4" deep perennial pot

Good quality and cut back for the season. Will be great looking next spring.

  • Packaged very well 5

I ordered from US Perennials last year and the plants were all packaged so well that I was really impressed. Everything I ordered was in excellent condition and grew well. I ordered more this spring and was equally happy with the condition of everything. I will continue to order from them.

  • Great plants! 5

This was my first order and I was amazed at the fantastic plants I received. I have paid 2 or 3 times as much for plants from other mail order nurseries that were not nearly as nice. I will definitely order again.
