Salvia 'Hot Lips' - SAGE 'HOT LIPS'

Product Code: SAL-X-HOTLIPS
Shipping: Calculated at Checkout
$8.99

Vigorous tender perennial and great hummingbird plant. Eye-catching red-white flowers from early summer to late fall.

Award of Garden Merit by Royal Horticultural Society in Britain.

Bushy growth, 2-3' tall and wide mounds, (partially) evergreen aromatic leaves.

Full sun, half sun, average moist, moderately fertile and somewhat drained soils. Adaptable to soil types. Established plants are drought tolerant.

Hardy in zones 6/7 to 9. Not reliably hardy in zone 6 - hardiness depends on the drainage, fertility of the soil and eventually some winter protection (mulch, leaves etc.)

Possible hybrid of Salvia microphylla (native to SW Arizona and mountains of eastern, western, and southern Mexico, variable species that tends to hybridize easily).

Deer and rabbit resistant. Flowers attract hummingbird, butterflies and some bees.

Easy to grow and fast growing plant, in cooler regions better treated as annual. Can be cut back for more dense growth.

Combine with any perennial in sunny border, hummingbird or pollinator garden.

Pot size : square 3.5" x 5" deep pot

  • Exquisite red and white blooms that really look like lipstick! 5

In my last home (zone 7) these grew to 4 1/2-5 ft tall airy filler shrubs that gave the impact of the exquisite bright coloring while not blocking views of surrounding plants. And hummers love them! I can't wait for this to bloom in my gardens.
