Salvia nemorosa 'Caradonna' - MEADOW SAGE 'CARADONNA'

Product Code: SAL-NEM-CARADO
Shipping: Calculated at Checkout
$7.99

Meadow sage 'Caradonna' is very strictly upright perennial, grows to 24" tall, narrow clumps to 12-14". Dark purple flowers, dark stems, excellent vertical structure that doesn't flop.

Majority of Meadow sage cultivars or hybrids are clump forming, dense growing perennials, nearly with somewhat ground covering growth.

They flower for long period of time, starting in early summer - usually June, continuing till July, when cut back early (with still some blooms on) and adding a bit of fertilizer and some watering, they can rebloom and continue till the fall.

Very valuable perennials for sunny borders, with medium to drier or dry soils, due to it's tolerance to droughts, heat and air pollution are very important urban perennials and are often combined with grasses, Coreopsis, Echinacea, Perovskia, roses or daylilies.

Great combinations are with plants that meet in flower - so with Allium christophii, Amsonia, Coreopsis auriculata 'Nana', Dianthus (lower and taller species), Geum, Iris x barbata (I. x germanica =bearded Iris), Monarda bradburiana, Silene 'Rolly's Favorite'.

Attracts butterflies and bees. Versatile and very long flowering perennial, easily regenerates after being cut back. Backbone of many flower beds in public spaces or private gardens. Plants are deer and rabbit resistant.

Salvia nemorosa (or hybrids Salvia x sylvestris) comes form Europe, it is hardy in zones 4 to 8.

Pot size : square 3.5" x 5" deep pot

Very robust and neat-looking! The colorful stems definitely extend the bloom season, but they rebloom very well if deadheaded promptly.

This was a Fall purchase and arrived as a beautiful large clump with well developed roots and healthy foliage (minor insect damage). Look forward to seeing it in bloom next year.
