Meadow Sage 'Lyrical White' - sturdy mounding habit, very hardy and reliable reblooming/long season flowering.
Blooming Time: flowering peak in May/June (late spring to early summer, depending on your zone). But freely reblooms till late summer to early fall.
Size: 22-24" tall and wide, somewhat ground covering habit
USDA Zones: 4 to 9
Culture: full sun, mostly sun. Average soils, moderately fertile to fertile, drained soils, drier soils. Adaptable. Grows fairly well in heavier soils and clay (avoid waterlogged soils). Drought, heat and air-pollution tolerant plant makes it great candidate for urban landscaping.
Moisture Needs: average (medium) to drier (medium-dry)
Origin:Meadow sage is usually hybrid, also mentioned as Salvia x sylvestris = hybrids of two European species - S. nemorosa and Salvia pratensis. This cultivar is patented under PP21,243 ('Florsalwhite') and can't be propagated without permission. Bred by Darwin Perennials.
Black Walnut Tolerant: yes
Deer/Rabbit Resistant: yes / yes (due to it's aromatic leaves)
Attracts Butterflies or Pollinators: yes/yes (including honeybees)
Attracts Hummingbirds: no
Pot size: square 3.5" x 4" deep perennial pot
Plant Combinations: Universal plant that looks good in any sunny border, in private or public spaces, cottage gardens, pollinator gardens, low maintenance or no irrigation plantings. Combine with medium to taller grasses and with perennials like Amsonia, Baptisia, Asclepias tuberosa or A. verticillata, Eryngium, Coreopsis, Echinacea, Gaillardia, Gaura, Geranium sanquineum cultivars, Perovskia, Rudbeckia, Nepeta, Sedum, roses or daylilies. Also goes well with plants with more moisture needs like tall phloxes, hardy Geranium hybrids, Lilium or shorter cultivars of Eupatorium.
