Unusual sage with nodding flowering spikes. Airy structure and transparent look.
4' tall x 1-1.5' wide, deciduous leaves stay at the ground, very long and nearly bare stems carry blue flowers in May-June.
Sun, half sun, drained soils with average (medium) moisture to dry. Some drainage seems to be crucial for successful growing.
Aromatic plant - deer and rabbit resistant. Drought tolerant.
Hardy in zones 5-8.
Flowers attracts pollinators (honeybees, some native bees and butterflies).
Native to Central and Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, and Siberia.
Best in sunny garden with somewhat drained soil, or bigger rock garden, xeriscape.
