
Sedum glaucophyllum - CLIFF STONECROP
Small native stonecrop from central part of Appalachian Mountains. Attracts butterflies.
Usually 2" tall x 10" wide creeping and ground covering mat of light green-gray flashy leaves, topped with white starry eyes in May-June.
Half sun, half shade (some shade during the day), drained soils, gritty, rocky soils, very shallow soils to rocky cliffs.
Deer and rabbits resistant, tolerates lots of droughts.
Easy to grow naive succulent plant, best in rock gardens, on shallow rocks, sandy soils, alpine through and crevice gardens. Medium moist to dry soils.
Native to rocky outcrops and cliffs of North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia and Maryland.
Appalachian Stonecrop (which is another common name) is hardy in zones 5 to 8.
