Early spring blooming, semi-evergreen grass, tough filling grass for the front of the flower bed. Good cold season grass!

Grows to 8-12" of height an width (18"+ with flowers). White flowers from March to May, after that the flowers turn tan. Leaves are bluish-green.

Full sun, half shade. Average soil with average moisture. Better in somewhat drained soil, preferably alkaline, with medium moisture (medium-moist to medium-dry). Established plants tolerate droughts.

Hardy in zones 3/4 to 8.

Deer and rabbit resistant, tolerates black walnuts and salt. This ornamental grass is native to Europe (from British Isles, through France, Italy, Central Europe to eastern part of Central Europe), where it grows on steppes, drained soils or close to rocky outcrops.

The best use is in small groups or as filler in sunny beds, drier beds, dry woodland edges or bigger rock gardens. Can be combined with many common  perennials like Agastache, Aster, Amsonia, Baptisia, Coreopsis, Echinacea, Euphorbia, Gaura, Geum, Iris x barbata (bearded Iris), Nepeta, Paeonia, Penstemon, shorter Rudbeckia, Pycnanthemum, Salvia nemorosa hybrids (Salvia x sylvestris), Sedum, and many others and with taller and later blooming grasses.
