Sesleria x 'Greenlee' hybrid - MOOR GRASS 'GREENLEE'

Product Code: SES-X-GREENLEE
Shipping: Calculated at Checkout
$7.99

Spontaneous hybrid with features of both parents (S. autumnalis and S. caerulea). Evergreen, low maintenance grass, tough and adaptable.

Forms clump that spread slowly. Leaves have nice green-blue hue, flowers in spring and summer with silver-purple flowers above the foliage, brown seedheads. Cut back in early spring to encourage new fresh look.

Likes some drainage and little bit more moisture, but is adaptable. Established plants are quite drought tolerant. While this plant is hardy in zones 4 to 9, it doesn't prefer the humidity of the deep south.

Pest and disease free, tolerant to black walnut, urban conditions and salinity (salt tolerant). Well behaved grass that rarely seeds.

Discovered in California in Greenlee nursery and is named after the nursery founder and Meadow Garden Design proponent John Greenlee.

Blooming Time: spring/summer
Size: 8-12" tall and 12-14" wide
USDA Zones: 4 to 9
Culture: full sun, half sun, dry shade, well-drained to average to moderately fertile soil
Moisture Needs: average/medium
Origin: spontaneous seedling of S. autumnalis x S. caerulea discovered by John Greenlee in his nursery in Pomona, California
Deer/Rabbit Resistant: yes / yes
Attracts Butterflies or Pollinators: no / yes, also attracts small birds
Attracts Hummingbirds: no
Pot Size: square 3.5" x 5" pot
Plant Combinations: Use is similar to Sesleria autumnalis - in small groups or in masses, as groundcover, edging plant, difficult urban conditions, dry shade or for erosion control. Easily combined with many common perennials, lets mention at least Agastache, Aster, Amsonia, Baptisia, Coreopsis, Echinacea, Euphorbia, Gaura, Geum, Iris x barbata (bearded Iris), Nepeta, Paeonia, Penstemon, Rudbeckia, Pycnanthemum, Salvia nemorosa, Sedum, ...or other taller grasses.
