Solidago caesia - BLUE-STEMMED GOLDENROD
Clump forming, non-aggressive woodland goldenrod.
This is again one of the goldenrods, that should be seen more often in public or private gardens - it's quite modest and adaptable to soils, moisture and shade.
Hardy in zones 4 to 8. Native to open woodlands, thickets and savannas of central and eastern North America, see the USDA distribution map.
Grows best half shade, dappled shade, light shade, but also in full sun. In the full sun forms probably the best looking clumps.
It's not fussy about the soils, and can grow in clay, organic soil, loam or just any average soil, with dry to medium moisture. Full size is up to 3' tall and wide.
Perennial suitable for cottage gardens, woodland edges, woodland gardens, dry shade gardens, water-wise plantings, perennial borders or restoration projects, both in public urban spaces or smaller private gardens. Good pollinator plant for butterflies, native bees, wasps, pollinating flies, moths.
Unfortunately this plant can be often grazed by the deer.
Good perennial combo is with Hosta, or Amsonia, Aster cordifolius, Chrysogonum, Cimicifuga (Actea), Eupatorium coelestinum, Geranium maculatum, Polygonatum, grasses like Chasmantium latifolium or Carex.
Pot Size : square 3.5" x 4" deep perennial pot

Glad to add this for late-season pollinators!
These plants weren't as large as those I typically get from US Perennials but look healthy and I expect they will do great.

Great!!
Plants arrived in the mail looking perfect. They were very well packed and the plants are a good size and healthy. I am excited to see them in a semi-wooded, part-sun area in the very back of my yard, along with aster, mountain mint, butterfly weed, and rattlesnake master. Thank you!
