Compact cultivar with golden-yellow leaves in the spring (chartreuse later) and large purple-blue flowers.
12-14" tall and wide, single flower has close to 1.5" in diameter, blooming period May to July, with occasional re-blooming later.
Plant has the richest gold color in the spring, with the summer heat, the color fades to green-yellow - leaves may burn in hot climates, so some shade during the day is beneficial.
Sun (in cooler region) to half-shade (in hotter regions), average soils that stay medium moist to moist. Clay and black walnut tolerant plant.
Young rabbits or deer may browse the foliage.
Hardy in zones 4 to 9.
Best in half shade gardens, woodland edge gardens, rain gardens. Looks great with single colored hosta, Geums, Bergenia, Primula, Brunnera, but goes well with may other perennials.
