Product Code: TRI-HIR-TOJEN
Shipping: Calculated at Checkout
$8.99

Non-spreading toad lily with arching stems, white flowers with pink-lavender edges (and no spots) along the whole stem and a bit earlier to bloom.

Very good performer in Toad Lily Evaluation in Chicago Botanic Garden trials, gaining 4 of 5 possible stars.

1-2' tall and wide, stays in clumps and doesn't spread. As other toad lilies it's slow to emerge in the spring.

Each flower is 1" wide, blooms in late summer and early fall. Hairy stems (hirta = hairy).

Half shade to full shade (part sun with constant moisture), average soil amended with some humus (organic matter, leaf compost) with average moisture (medium) to slightly moist. Plants are pretty adaptable to soil types.

Neutral, slightly acidic soils.

Suitable for zones 4 to 8.

Deer and rabbit resistant, black walnut tolerant. Pollinator friendly plant.

For woodland gardens, shade or half shade gardens, close to water features in the shade, along the shade path. Combine with Aconitum, Actaea (Cimicifuga), Brunnera, Chrysogonum, Epimedium, Hosta, Helleborus, Iris cristata, Phlox stolonifera, Phlox divaricata, Primula, Polygonatum, Uvularia,... with ferns and spring ephemerals (Claytonia, Jeffersonia, Mertensia, Sanguinaria, Trillium)...or grasses like Carex, Calamagrostis brachytricha, Deschampsia caespitosa, Hakonechloa.

Great cut flower.

I love toad lily’s and this one is no exception! It is thriving, but still too early for flowers.
