Low growing perennial with late spring deep blue flowers and red-brown foliage color in cooler months. Award of Garden Merit (Royal Horticultural Society, UK).
Grows only to 4-6" of height, and spreads up to 12-24" wide, flowers late spring to early summer, some flowers may appear in the summer. Leaves are more or less evergreen.
Full sun to half shade. Average soil with average moisture (medium, medium-moist, medium-dry). Don't plant in waterlogged or poorly drained soil.
This plant is moderately competitive, so can't suppress weeds that well (keep this in mind, if you want to use it as groundcover).
Hardy in zones 5 to 8. Deer and rabbit resistant.
Pollinator friendly (attracts only some bees, butterflies).
Native to Caucasus, Ukraine and Western Asia. This plant has several names, including Creeping Speedwell, Veronica umbrosa 'Goergia Blue' or V. peduncularis 'Georgia Blue', V. 'Oxford Blue' or V. 'Cambridge Blue'.
Easy to grow perennial for edges, rock gardens, formations with rocks, dry walls, crevice gardens, troughs or bigger containers.
Can be combined with many commons perennials, preferably with the shorter or medium-sized ones.
